Seda and Hulsen’s wedding photoshoot in Paris was an unforgettable experience. As their photographer, I aimed to capture their love story in the best way possible. To achieve this, I used both digital and film photography—offering modern, sharp images alongside the timeless, classic look that only film can provide.

Paris, with its iconic romance, served as the perfect backdrop. Combining digital and film photography elevated the shoot, creating a unique narrative. This dual approach highlights why being a hybrid photographer is such an asset for weddings.

Digital vs. Film Photography: Key Differences

Digital Photography

Digital photography is quick and precise. It allows me to take numerous photos instantly and make adjustments in real-time. This is especially useful for capturing fast-moving moments—like laughter, spontaneous gestures, or intricate details such as the bride’s dress or the groom’s smile.

Film Photography

Film photography, while slower, carries a unique charm. It offers soft colors, natural lighting, and a nostalgic feel. Film is ideal for capturing quiet, emotional moments, adding warmth and depth to each image.

By blending both styles, I provide couples like Seda and Hulsen with a comprehensive gallery: crisp, vibrant shots from digital photography and the artistic, timeless aesthetic of film.

Why Choose a Hybrid Photographer?

A hybrid photographer uses both digital and film cameras, bringing the best of both worlds to wedding photography. Each style has its strengths:

  • Digital: Perfect for capturing dynamic, real-time moments with flexibility in post-editing.

  • Film: Adds depth and character, making photos look classic and emotive.

Together, these approaches create a balanced story. Digital photography captures the energy of the day, while film slows the pace to highlight intricate, beautiful details. This ensures no moment is missed.

The Film Choice: Kodak Portra 400

For Seda and Hulsen’s wedding, I selected Kodak Portra 400. Renowned among wedding photographers, this film excels in natural light, delivering:

  • Soft skin tones

  • Warm, rich colors

  • Smooth textures

Paris’s ever-changing sunlight made Kodak Portra 400 the ideal choice. It’s reliable for creating natural and timeless photos, especially in outdoor settings.

Behind the Scenes: Seda, Hulsen, and the Vintage Triumph TR3

The photoshoot unfolded across some of Paris’s most picturesque locations:

  • Eiffel Tower at Sunrise: The early morning light painted soft, golden hues, making the perfect setting for romantic shots. Seda looked radiant in her elegant white wedding gown, while Hulsen’s classic black suit added sophistication.

  • Second Dress and Parisian Charm: Seda later changed into a simple yet chic second dress, complementing the Parisian vibe. The couple explored quiet streets, charming cafés, and scenic gardens, embodying the essence of the city.

  • Vintage Triumph TR3: A highlight of the shoot was the 1960 dark green Triumph TR3. Its retro charm added a timeless touch, seamlessly blending with the film photography aesthetic. Paired with Paris’s historic streets, the car created a nostalgic scene.

Using both digital and film cameras allowed me to capture a wide range of emotions and moments—from playful, candid shots to soft, intimate portraits.

When Seda and Hulsen received their final gallery, they loved how the two styles complemented each other.

  • Digital Photos: Sharp and energetic, these images captured real, lively moments—smiles, laughter, and movement.

  • Film Photos: Timeless and emotive, these photos featured soft colors and a nostalgic atmosphere.

One standout example was a shot of Seda and Hulsen with the Triumph TR3 near the Eiffel Tower. The film’s aesthetic made it look like the photo was taken in the 1960s, adding a unique layer of character and sentimentality.

Seda and Hulsen’s wedding photoshoot in Paris beautifully demonstrated the advantages of combining digital and film photography. Digital captures spontaneous, vivid moments, while film adds an artistic and classic touch.

As a hybrid photographer, my goal was to provide them with a complete, unforgettable collection of memories. With Paris’s romantic ambiance, Kodak Portra 400’s natural charm, and the versatility of digital photography, Seda and Hulsen’s photos are a timeless treasure they will cherish forever.
